Community Announcements

Join the Santa Clara County Office of Cultural Competency for the 2022 National Day of Racial Healing on January 20th at 3:30 pm. The National Day of Racial Healing is a coordination of events and actions designed to promote racial healing, youth voice, equity, and connectedness. After much discussion and reflection within the community, it was decided that Santa Clara County’s theme for 2022 is Healing Through Stories of Hope and Transformation. This nationwide movement is designed to lift interconnectedness, promote social justice, and heal the harms of inequity through community, relationship, and structural change. To learn more about the national movement and to download the conversation guide visit wkkf.org. To learn more about the County event visit https://bit.ly/3fGajGI.

The California Competes Tax Credit (CCTC) and Grant Program (CCGP) are available to businesses that want to locate in California or stay and grow in California. Businesses of any industry, size, or location compete for over $180 million available in tax credits by applying in one of the application periods: Jan 3 - Jan 24, 2022 and March 7 - March 28, 2022.  Applicants will be analyzed based on twelve different factors of evaluation, including number of full-time jobs being created, amount of investment, and strategic importance to the state or region. The American Red Cross is facing a national blood crisis – its worst blood shortage in over a decade, posing a concerning risk to patient care. Blood product distributions are outpacing donations. At times, as much as one-quarter of hospital blood needs are not being met. Why is this happening? The pandemic has impacted the national blood supply and the current surge in COVID-19 cases may be compounding the already dire situation.

But you can help!

  • Visit RedCrossBlood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to schedule your blood or platelet donation appointment.
  • If you are a member of a local community organization, faith-based group, business, association, other non-profit, etc., please consider sharing an email message encouraging them to give now.
